We understand the value of brokering our network to create new channels to market and in a timescale that can capitalise on opportunities arising. We identify and create partnerships that engage and motivate key influencers so that we can work fast and successfully to achieve our goals. The core VSI team are Andy McIntyre and Tony Faulkner
Andy has developed business interests across a range of markets and topics, having started his career as a journalist.
He built a strong reputation as a reporter working for leading news agencies across the UK, working for BBC Television, News International and the Mirror Group, before moving into an executive position with Gold Group International. He worked closely on a variety of projects with Ralph and David Gold, co-owner of West Ham, before leading a management buyout in 2004.
After selling the business eight years later, Andy acted as business angel, helping a number of start-ups, including Visionary Sport International (VSI) which he set up in partnership with Darren Royle and Tony Faulkner, and co-founded the Master’s in Sporting Directorship course.
Andy, a lifelong Manchester City fan, was an apprentice footballer with Bolton Wanderers, before going on to gain a BA Hons degree in Economics and Politics from Nottingham University.
Tony, having been forced to retire early from professional football due to injury, has forged a career in sports performance and become one of the country’s leading experts on neuroscience and how it relates to sport.
After four years as a player at Bristol City, Tony trained as a Chartered Physiotherapist working at Manchester City and Blackburn. He became head of performance management at Blackburn, a role he then took up with City.
Tony’s interest in the area of performance psychology took him into the field of neuroscience – how people’s brains respond in a high performance environment. Already used to great effect in people development, the power of neuroscience is a feature of the Master’s in Sporting Directorship course, which Tony co-founded, bringing the subject into the business arena too. Tony is a partner with Darren Royle and Andy McIntyre in Visionary Sport International (VSI).
Tony is a member of the Neuro Practitioners Guild made up of a select group of practitioners in global business from neuroscience. He has worked across football, rugby and corporate business with coaches, managers and senior management teams.
VSI also work closely with their prestigious academic Advisory Board to gain input and accreditation at the highest level. Convening quarterly to advise and guide on course content, ensuring the MSD always delivers value and relevance within the market enabling the course to constantly evolve in response to the industry’s changing needs. These organisations also support us with their network of sporting contacts to assist graduates with future positions where possible.
