We understand the value of brokering our network to create new channels to market and in a timescale that can capitalise on opportunities arising. We identify and create partnerships that engage and motivate key influencers so that we can work fast and successfully to achieve our goals. The core VSI team are Andrew McIntyre and Tony Faulkner.
Andrew McIntyre – Chairman
Andrew has developed business interests across a range of markets and topics, having started his career as a journalist.
He built a strong reputation as a reporter working for leading news agencies across the UK, working for BBC Television, News International and the Mirror Group, before moving into an executive position with Gold Group International. He worked closely on a variety of projects with Ralph and David Gold, co-owner of West Ham, before leading a management buyout in 2004. After selling the business eight years later, Andrew acted as business angel, helping a number of start-ups, including Visionary Sport Investment (VSI) which he set up in partnership with Tony Faulkner, and co-founded the MSc in Sports Directorship course.
Andy, a lifelong Manchester City fan, was an apprentice footballer with Bolton Wanderers, before going on to gain a BA Hons degree in Economics and Politics from the University of Nottingham.
Tony Faulkner – Co-Founder, Neuroscientist and Sporting Director
Tony has forged a career in sports performance and become one of the country’s leading experts on neuroscience and how it relates to sport.
After four years as a player at Manchester City, having been forced to retire early from professional football due to injury, Tony trained as a Chartered Physiotherapist working at Manchester City and Blackburn. He became head of performance management at Blackburn, a role he then took up with City.
Tony’s interest in the area of performance psychology took him into the field of neuroscience – how people’s brains respond in a high performance environment. Already used to great effect in people development, the power of neuroscience is a feature of the MSc in Sports Directorship course, which Tony co-founded, bringing the subject into the business arena too. Tony is a partner with Andrew McIntyre in Visionary Sport International (VSI).
Tony is a member of the NeuroPractitioners Guild made up of a select group of practitioners in global business from neuroscience. He has worked across football, rugby and corporate business with coaches, managers and senior management teams.
